Two Men Who Serve in the Church They Protect

Church Preparedness Training didn’t start in a boardroom.
It started on a church safety team.

Our Story

Our Story

When Tom’s church asked him to establish a safety team, he brought nearly three decades of law enforcement experience to the job and built it alongside his partner, Kirk Henson. As they trained their own team, they saw how many churches wanted the same protection but lacked the knowledge or resources to build it. Church Preparedness Training is how they help.

In an increasingly complex and often volatile world, harm and targeted violence against places of worship have become a reality no church can ignore. Faith calls believers to put on the full armor of God for spiritual battles. Tom and Kirk believe church leaders and safety teams are also called to be physically prepared: vigilant stewards committed to protecting their congregations.

Our Mission

Equipping Churches to Safeguard God’s People

Church Preparedness Training exists to equip churches and houses of worship with the knowledge, skills and confidence to create a safe and secure environment for their congregations. We do this by:

  • Training staff and volunteers to put safety first
  • Developing strong observation and situational awareness skills
  • Identifying and preventing misconduct or malicious behavior before it happens
  • Teaching accurate threat assessment and effective response

We empower faith communities to safeguard God’s people while preserving a welcoming and peaceful place of worship.

“But we prayed to our God and guarded the city day and night to protect ourselves.”

Nehemiah 4:9
